Most people's idea of a cluttered space is one where there is too much stuff and it is chaotic and muddled. That is not always the case though. In fact, for those of us who love order, it's important to recognise how order can actually contribute to clutter. Yikes, who would have thought it?

• The invaluable art of sorting
Sorting doesn't exactly sound like masses of fun, does it? I want you to know it is worth thinking about though. Really, sorting is at the heart of successful decluttering, not to mention successful storage.

Life tends to give us subtle messages regarding changes we need to make. When your clothes feel tight you know it's time to go on some kind of diet, for instance. The same holds true for decluttering. Life will give you a nudge when you have too much stuff.
